When I visited the Dyson area for the first time in March, the company did not allow us to take our own photos of the video of the demos, as they were still far from production. Now that we have new details about the prices and availability of Dyson’s air purifier earbuds, the company has invited us to review the device again, this time with a video. The Dyson Zone will be available in March at a starting price of 950.

My second experience with the Dyson zone was very similar to the first, except that I was able to test it in more situations. Our video producer Joel Chokkattu and I were accompanied by a company representative as we pulled the helmet through the streets of New York City and walked a block on a rainy day. As expected, the passers-by gaped when I hung the scourge-shaped visor on the helmet, and one person even turned his head in surprise.

To see if the area is so comfortable that I can wear it on a long flight, which I think most people would like to use, I lay down on a couch with the device turned on. It was not terrible. We were also able to take a look at the companion app and see a live graph showing the noise levels in our environment.

As a reminder, the Dyson area is not designed to protect against recent time or other viruses. It does not stick to your face, even if the visor covers your nose and mouth. As a result, the chin remains free, and there is a gap in the middle the device and your skin. You can use inserts such as an N95 mask attachment, which the company offers as part of a package, but on its own the area is cleared only of particles and acidic gases, such as nitrogen dioxide and ozone.
